I’ve always been pretty good at not getting in my head about what my followers want, but I can do better.
I’m gonna turn my Instagram account back on next week, but I’m not going to worry about my followers. Like, at all. Instead, I’m gonna make content entirely for my email subscribers.
We need an audience in mind when we’re creating content, but if we’re trying to make money, it’s better to think about the one that is most likely to buy.
Followers don’t buy shit. Subscribers do.
So I’m gonna use Instagram as an extension of the conversation I’m having here, over email.
My goal for IG is to deepen the connection with my subscribers (using talking videos etc) and to pique the curiosity of the uninitiated — convincing them to subscribe as well.
You might have a small email list. You probably have more followers than subscribers. Most people do. But fuck your fucking followers, for fucks sake, motherfucker. It’s easier and more effective to make stuff for the smallest possible audience.
In truth, you should be writing to a single person. That person should be a subscriber, not a follower.
You’ll see this in action next Tuesday when I return to Instagram, but for now, just think about your IG content as an extension of the conversation you are having over email.
And if you want to sell stuff, and you aren’t having a conversation over email, what the fuck is wrong with you?
Build a list and sell ‘em stuff.
Have a wonderful day.
YAY !!! can’t wait
This makes a lot of sense. 💰
