Today, I went back through every email I’ve sent over the last 98 days, and I put all of them in a huge file to upload into ChatGPT. I asked it to analyze how the writing evolved since March 20th, when I began this 100-day email project.
It gave me a summary written in the 2nd person. (“In the beginning, your tone was uncertain”)
So I followed up and asked it for a 1st person version, and here’s what it gave me.
1. Tone and Confidence In the beginning, my tone was uncertain, and I had a lot of self-doubt about ability to write as well as I used to. Had I lost it? Over time, my confidence grew. My style became more assertive and bold. I started to embrace my unique voice and perspective, becoming comfortable sharing my thoughts and experiences without second-guessing myself.
2. Content Structure Early on, my emails were exploratory and less structured. As days progressed, I developed a clearer structure. I began introducing topics more effectively, building arguments with narratives, and concluding with a strong message or call to action.
3. Engagement with Audience Initially, I was more focused on self-reflection and personal growth. As I continued, I considered the audience's needs and interests more. I started incorporating interactive elements like questions, prompts for feedback, and direct addresses to the reader.
4. Use of Personal Stories My use of personal stories became more refined. Early on, I included stories without a clear connection to the broader message. Over time, I began weaving these stories more seamlessly into the narrative, using them to illustrate points effectively and create a more compelling message.
5. Consistency and Discipline Writing daily became a recurring theme. Early emails mentioned the struggle with consistency and the difficulty of the writing process. By later emails, I reflected more on the benefits of this discipline for personal growth and the improvement in my writing quality.
6. Reflection and Self-awareness My self-awareness and ability to reflect on my journey grew significantly. I started analyzing what worked and what didn’t, openly discussing my failures and successes. This introspection made my emails more authentic and provided valuable insights to readers on similar journeys.
7. Humor and Personality As I grew more comfortable, my personality and sense of humor became more prominent. I started infusing my writing with my unique character, making my emails not just informative but also entertaining.
Pretty cool, yeah?
For the most part, I agree with my AI friend. I take issue with #7, though. I was fucking hilarious from the jump.
Have you ever asked ChatGPT to analyze your writing?
If not, why?
If so, what did it tell you? I’m curious to hear.
I didn't even know that was a thing, it's a good way to get feedback.
