It’s time to start growing this email list beyond the people who already knew me on Instagram.
I’ve been running IG/FB ads for a few weeks, and the subscriptions are starting to slow. I’ll continue working on bringing more of them over, but it’s time to move into the next phase:
Finding new people who don’t know who I am.
But here’s the thing, it would be unwise to send new people the same stuff you get without preparing them first.
My writing here asks for some prior knowledge about me and what I’m into — if I took someone who didn’t know me and just throw them into this “live” broadcast situation, they’d likely end up confused before they got caught up.
If I’m going to keep up this daily publication schedule — hell, if I’m going to be happy and excited about my work — I need the flexibility to write what I want to write. I need the flexibility to go where I want to go.
So I presume a lot of knowledge in these emails.
If every time I emailed you, I gave you all the necessary backstory/knowledge a new person would need to be fully caught up, you’d get bored.
You would have already heard it a million times.
It would break the spell.
When I speak to you like someone who knows me, it creates a more intimate connection.
I need to get new people up-to-speed before I drop them into the “live” broadcast daily emails.
In order to do that, I’m going to create an automated sequence of roughly 8-12 emails that new subscribers get before they start getting these.
I’ll use a “lead magnet” type offer to entice them to give me their email address, but my primary goal for this sequence isn’t to “deliver value.”
Value will be delivered, most certainly. But that’s just a side effect of my primary objective…
Indoctrination.
Indoctrination into my world, my ideas, my “cult of personality.”
I don’t have the entire sequence worked out yet. This is Learning Out Loud, after all.
I could just build the damn thing and tell you what I did after it was done. That might be smarter. But it’s definitely not as fun as bringing you along for the ride.
To be continued…
So great to see you here 🤎🙌🏽
