Someone called me yesterday after she read my email. She was concerned that I was backsliding to the ways of ‘Old [instagram] Ryan’… … that I might be mocking people — and that maybe I don’t want to think about my audience that way. I’m not sure. Maybe I do, maybe I don’t.
I have a ton of posts saved from your Instagram account and they all disappeared and that sucks, but I feel like the mockery was directed at someone else, not me.
It's not grandiosity but it's more than a joke. It's a form of satirical grandiosity used by all great spiritual teachers, like when Jesus said "No one comes to the Father except through me", or when Osho called himself "Bhagwan".
Actual grandiosity would be your friend's behavior, or me worrying about what will happen if I ruin the joke by posting this comment.
To my perception you were being funny and I giggled while reading it 😓
