I just turned on paid subscriptions
I just turned on paid subscriptions on my Substack. I had a handful of ‘pledges’ sitting there — some for more than a year. These are people who took the time to enter their credit card information and say “if you turn on paid subscriptions, you can bill me $10/month.’
For some reason, I’ve been hesitating to turn it on.
Actually, it’s not “for some reason.”
I know the reason.
I wasn’t sure if I’d want to keep doing this.
But now that I’ve been off Instagram for almost two months, I’m sure that I do. I like it better here. This is the 26th day in a row I’ve published a masterpiece, and I’m just getting warmed up.
I haven’t decided how I’m going to sweeten the deal for paid subscribers, but rest assured, I will.
And whatever I decide, it’ll be worth 1000x the little $10/month fee.
If you just want to keep reading for free, that’s cool. I appreciate you being here.
Thanks.
PS - here are a few of the notes that the pledgees added to their pledge. (fuck I hate that word)
"Your openness through your process is helping me in real time figure out what I'm doing with myself, with my business, and define my reasons why. Your dedication to writing and picking yourself back up makes me feel like I can do it too. Your emails in the last month or so have been exactly what I needed and I'm here for more."— DD
"You are the second person online who has really made me think in a different way, I have a desire to write more articulate myself better and challenge myself, which I see you do all the time. Thank you for all that you do, plus your humour is the cherry on the top x "— KVK
"I really want to support you because you are unapologetically you and you being an honesty that the world tends to hide. I appreciate your posts and also your content as it helps me discover mine. Although not running my own business right now I do have my creative projects on the side."— LW
