I’m nervous. I don’t think I’m gonna like what I see.
It’s not what’s in the feed. I can take or leave that. I’m more worried about being confronted with my own content.
It’s been more than two months since I deactivated my IG account.
I have a lot of bad feelings about what I did there last year. I’ve written and spoken about it a few times in these emails over the last 6 weeks.
The gist:
Rather than grieve the end of a 5-year relationship, and like, feel feelings or whatever — I decided to take to Instagram and raise absolute fucking hell. I nearly burned down my coaching & consulting business.
But now I’m in the middle of a rebuild. I have three new projects in the works — an email sequence, Learning Out Loud, and the Unusually Focused Private Client Group.
I’m reactivating the account for two reasons.
First, I want to go back through my content and extract and organize the best ideas. I’ll have to wade through a bunch of crazy ass shit, but it’ll be worth it.
Laura sent me a list of a few of the things she remembers from last year:
Syntax (because, but, so)
They say, I say
Rhetorical situation
RAFT-TIP (role, audience, format, task — task [as an] interesting problem)
Threshold concepts
Binding to prior knowledge
Invoking audience
Writing through implication
Cognitive load/workspace
Risky/tentative claims
Real-time transformation
Writing purposes (express/reflect, explain/inform, evaluate/judge, inquire/explore, analyze/interpret, take a stand, propose a solution)
This doesn’t even begin to cover it.
There’s more. Much, much, much more. I was on fucking fire.
I also want to use my 48 hours on Instagram to do what I should have done before I left:
Tell everyone where to find me now.
So I’ll make a few posts over the next couple of days driving as many people as possible to my email list.
I’m giving myself 48-72 hours to do what I need to do — then I’m leaving again. I’m not sure if or when I’ll be back.
If you didn’t watch The Ryan Show last year, you now have a couple of days to binge it.
It's so good to watch and read this. Helping me unfold a bit too. Thanks Ryan
Awwww yea! Get it
